Title: Petition
Many thanks for signing our petition
This petition is now closed
The kennel club have asked the government to give them 'statutory powers'(this is on their website)
Below is the quote from the kennel club website:
'Since oct 2008 We have asked the government for statutory powers to make the scheme’s requirements (kc ABS) compulsory across the country. This will mean that those who have not signed up to our standards will not be able to breed within the law'
An early day motion 2250 has been passed in parliament already..this means (if kennel club get their way) that you would not be able to breed puppies unless under their scheme. If you saw the BBC tv progarmme 'Pedigree dogs exposed' i'm sure you would not want them in a position of power like this, do they deserve statutory powers or their scheme to be compulsory?
We welcome any new reforms which benefit the health of dogs and improve breeding and we are not anti kc,our petition is against the kennel club having statutory powers or the kennel clubs own rules becoming compulsory to the whole of the uk (Pedigrees and cross breeds alike)
If you are a breeder and want Freedom of choice when registering your puppies please sign the petition before Nov 12th,only your name will be published, also you can write to or email your local MP or any of the MP's who have signed the early day motion number 2250,you can find them at:
http://edmi.parliament.uk/EDMi/EDMDetails.aspx?EDMID=36600&SESSION=891
The kc do not have statutory powers at the moment but according to their website they have requested them.
